Surgical oncology is a field of medicine that uses surgery to treat cancer. Its main goal is to find and remove harmful tumors from your body. Surgical oncology deals with the use of surgical techniques to treat all forms of cancer.

Surgical oncology involves the following functions:

• Diagnosis of cancer and determining its stage by taking a biopsy or other methods.
• Surgically removing the tumors or a part of it
• Surgically remove the tumors along with other affected body parts.
• Reconstruct parts that are affected by the surgical treatment.
